Lickey Hills Primary School Birmingham Multi Use Games Area

Education MUGAs Primary Education

At the end of November 2023 we delivered a new artificial turf Multi Use Games Area (MUGA) for Lickey Hills Primary School in Birmingham. Having been approached by the school to quote for a MUGA early in 2023, we provided a free consultation service the survey the area and provide initial designs.

The school required a company that could help specify the surfacing and also make design recommendations that would meet Sport England and SACPA standards.

As part of the works STM services would also support the planning application process. The MUGA will not only offer the chance for pupils to take part in a range of sports and keep fit, but the design of the new synthetic turf MUGA has been design to work fit into its location on Green Belt land.

The school made the decision to appoint Synthetic Turf Management following reference site visits from other local installation. We also had the good news that the business manager at the school had played on one of our builds in 2022 Claines Primary School not far from Lickey Hills.

Following the design stage and site surveys we school decided they wanted a carbon copy of what we installed there with a few changes to the line markings.

STM offered Sterling Turf DuraPro and 10mm shockpad.

The school decided on a 30m x 15m area with recesses for goal storage and opted for 2m high twin bar fencing from in black.

Once we started the construction we completed the project from start to finish within a 3 week period which over the winter period was no mean feat.

The school are buzzing with the surface and business manager Ben Dillion said ‘The school were very impressed by how quickly and efficiently the project was completed and we are thrilled with the outcome. The children can’t wait to use it.’

Mr Dillon added: “With the new MUGA our children will have access to a fantastic facility all year round. We are optimistic we will be able to host sports fixtures and tournaments for schools in the future too”
