Artificial turf has proven an excellent option for outdoor areas that are designed for children with learning difficulties and other developmental challenges. At STM, we know that safety and enjoyment are number one priorities when it comes to a project like this. That’s why we used the softest and best suited synthetic grass in designing the sensory play area.
Synthetic Turf Management designed and installed this artificial grass sensory garden / safe play area for this Hospital in the North East.
Synthetic grass maintenance is not demanding and, what’s more, the product looks extremely natural. Creating an outdoor space like this was a rewarding experience for STM; we were glad to help provide a safe, fun environment that’s easy to keep and is usable all year round.
When we work with a client we really like to get to know them, and what’s important to them. That’s why our products are tailored to meet the specific demands of the project. In this case, the synthetic turf required a natural look; we really wanted to create a garden-space that looked beautiful and made time spent outside a joy.
The Cleveland Unit’s Liz Pickard had the following feedback for Synthetic Turf Management:
“The Cleveland Unit offers early identification and intervention for children with complex and special educational needs, we now have the ability to use the sensory garden all year round to assist us with our multi disciplinary assessments in the assessment nursery and joint education.” – Liz Pickard

Synthetic Turf Management has extensive experience in working on projects specifically designed for young children, and children with learning difficulties. We know that something like a synthetic turf play area can transform an outdoor space into a safe place for children to learn and interact. Every project that we undertake is a new challenge, and a welcome one. It’s great to see a real difference being made.
Synthetic turf gardens and play areas can come in an extensive list of different styles, with various different uses. Some schools opt for colourful artificial grass to create a learning environment for children, whilst others opt for natural green, like this one at James Cook Hospital.
