Every school sports facility tells a story. When the surface is tired, worn, or no longer fit for purpose, that story starts to hold pupils back. That is why we were delighted to be appointed by Newsome Academy in Huddersfield to carry out a full resurfacing of their multi-use games area — transforming an aging facility into a high-performance surface ready for years of active use.

The Project

Newsome Academy is a busy secondary school in Huddersfield with a real commitment to sport and physical activity. Their existing MUGA had reached the end of its serviceable life, and the school needed a reliable, long-lasting solution delivered to a tight programme and without disruption to the wider site. We were appointed following an open tender process — having completed a full site survey and presented the school with a clear range of design and surfacing options, we were selected on merit to take the project forward. From there, we worked closely with the school's facilities team from the outset, managing every element of the project under one roof — from site setup through to final line marking.

Scope of Works

Our team handled the full scope of the resurfacing project:

- Site preparation, including welfare facilities, health and safety compliance, supervision, and transportation logistics

- Uplift and removal of the existing artificial turf surface, including skip hire and responsible disposal

- Supply and installation of 10mm Performance Pad and Dura Match Artificial Grass as a sand-dressed (2G) surface

- Supply and installation of 12kg per m² 2EW sand infill to achieve the correct playing performance

- Inlay of main football markings and three netball court markings, designed and installed according to the agreed layout
