With the 2026 World Cup underway, BBC Sport has made MediaCityUK in Salford the home of its UK coverage, and at the centre of the site's public activation is a 3G football pitch installed by STM.
The pitch sits at the heart of MediaCity's World Cup fan zone, with thousands of people passing through to play 5-a-side, watch matches on the giant screens, and take part in the events running across the tournament. Foundation 92 have been using it for free coaching sessions for young players, and Manchester United's Street Reds have run sessions there too.
It's a project we're proud to have been part of. Seeing a pitch we've built being used by the public at the centre of one of the biggest sporting events on the calendar is exactly the kind of work that reminds us why getting the installation right matters, whatever the size or profile of the project.
The pitch joins a list of venues we've worked at that includes Wembley Stadium and Twickenham - and for a synthetic turf company based in the North of England, having our work visible on BBC News during a World Cup is a pretty good moment.
