Solihull Football Centre- An Interview with the Manager

In October 2017, STM installed a 3G football pitch at Solihull Football Centre in the West Midlands. We recently found out how the pitch was being used and the ways in which it has benefited the centre and the community.

Using TigerTurf Atomic Pro 60 a surface was created to provide ultimate performance and enhanced durability to which the club was delighted with!

Now 3 months on, we asked Football Centre owners Matthew Corp and Paul Murtagh what they thought of the project and how it has contributed to the club itself as well as the local community.

Why did you choose artificial turf for your project?

"For all year play, our coaching and sport products really needed a product which allows us to provide our high levels of sport service to the community. We know artificial surfaces are popular with the public in the UK because of the harsh winters we tend to have".

What was the aim of your project?

"To offer the first purpose built Walking Football Centre in the World".

How have you benefitted from your new surface?

"We already have local teams using the facility and Walking Football sessions set up weekday/evenings and weekends".

How would you rate the work that has been carried out?

"We have already used STM at our sister club Beechcroft Tennis & Multi-Sports Community Club and the work carried out was of a very high standard coupled by fantastic customer service and proven products. The work carried out at Solihull was much the same, very impressive. We would like to say a big thank you to TigerTurf as we think the quality of the turf is A****".

Has anything changed as a result of the new surface?

"We have held Walking Football National Final tournaments which Birmingham Walking Football Club were crowned champions. We have plenty of local clubs with very talented youngsters using the facility as well".
