Hutton Rudby Tennis Court Resurfacing- Chapter 1 (of 5!)

10th May 2016

Chapter 1- Before

May 2016 saw the end of the resurfacing project at Hutton Rudby and it is absolutely astonishing! In fact, the end result is such an amazing transformation we thought that we would split it into 5 parts! So you will get a new blog everyday about the Hutton Rudby artificial turf tennis court resurfacing project. And here is the first instalment

Tennis Court Resurfacing

Tennis court resurfacing is needed for a number of different reasons however it is mainly because maintenance can no longer be carried out. The lifespan of an artificial turf tennis court can reach up to twenty years with a proper maintenance plan, however this can be reduced significantly if certain procedures aren’t carried out such as power sweeping and moss/algae treatment. For more information on tennis court maintenance, click here.

Unfortunately, artificial turf tennis courts do reach the end of their lifespan, contaminants build up within the surface and cause drainage problems. The sand infill can migrate and decrease over time and generally everything gets a bit old and outdated including tennis nets and fencing/lighting (all which Synthetic Turf Management can install).

Of course, we do not want you to have to resurface a tennis court if this is not necessary. The first action we take is to inspect your court and provide recommendations to optimise its usage. This could be referring you to our maintenance division, or suggesting a resurface.

Hutton Rudby Resurface

Hutton Rudby Tennis Club, in North Yorkshire, approached us and asked for a tennis court resurface of 5 courts.

Over the years, debris had penetrated the pitch with contaminants and caused problems with the court.

The tennis court looked old, outdated and unattractive.

The fencing was a hazard and coupled with the health and safety risks, this was an accident waiting to happen.

It is always important to look after your pitch, not only to ensure it looks great and appeals to more target markets but also the health and safety hazards and performance. You want to be able to offer exceptional facilities that allows every user to play to the best of their ability. That is exactly what Hutton Rudby recognised and why they started their tennis court resurfacing project.

The Next Step

STM created a CAD design to allow our customer to picture what their tennis court would look like after the resurface and allow the space to be optimised suitably.
