Happy Monday morning to you all, we hope you are ready to start your week! We are all ready and raring to go here at Synthetic Turf Management! One of the first questions of the day was ‘What’s a MUGA?’ Of course many of you will know what a MUGA is but we don’t like to assume here at STM, in the world of artificial turf, so we thought that we would give you the basics in today’s blog…
MUGA is the acronym for Multi-Use-Games-Area which is a surface that combines a number of different sports and activities onto one playing surface. These are very common additions to schools, sports facilities and leisure centres all over the UK as they are a way of optimising space and allowing schools to cover a number of different sports on the curriculum.
What is a MUGA?
MUGA’s are often installed with artificial grass (or synthetic turf), this is because a variety of different colours can be included along with a super safe surface that is durable, offers great drainage and can last up to 20 years! MUGAs are wonderful multi-purpose hubs of sport. Colourful, practical, problem-solving surfaces that have become popular amongst the world’s space-savers and budget makers. Using pitch markings and different turf-types, we can create an area that accommodates a number of different sports, right there in one place.
We have collated a gallery of MUGA images below on what might inspire you to create a MUGA project for your facility.
MUGAs are one of the most common PE facilities in the UK
Their all weather properties make it a super popular product
STM MUGAs are installed with a texturised artificial grass product
And we find that schools love them!
