If you are joining us halfway through our special 5 part blog, why not enlighten yourself on the Hutton Rudby story with Chapter 1 and Chapter 2? Today we are focussing on our third step in the resurfacing of the five tennis courts we were asked to improve at Hutton Rudby. So welcome to the third chapter… Tennis Court Base Works.
As mentioned in our last blog, protecting the base works is a priority at STM and will help to increase the longevity of your new artificial turf in the long run. After taking up the existing turf the surface was muddy and contaminated.
We gave the surface a good hose down! This helps to clean the tarmac.
After that it is essential to ensure that the base works are level, we run a straight edge up and down the tennis court base works to identify any uneven areas. Fellow SAPCA members, Labo Sport then test the base thoroughly with particular specialist equipment to ensure that the tennis court base works are levelled to an exceptional standard.
It is likely that certain areas will need levelling. After STM have levelled the patches, we drill to ensure sufficient drainage.
As the previous surface is tarmac it is free drainage so we installed ACO drains across certain areas of the tennis court base works:
Part of the tennis court base works is to make sure that all equipment can be secured in, such as the tennis court nets.
The fencing is starting to go up!
Installed with great precision and accurate measurements always making sure its right!
And the rolls arrived too!
