STM Reveal New Artificial Pitch at Gateshead School

This Secondary School College in Gateshead, North East England, is to benefit from a brand new synthetic artificial pitch. The works were complete in the last week by STM (Synthetic Turf Management) and saw the existing tarmac surface transformed into a multi-use, and multi-purpose games area for the secondary school pupils to enjoy for their new school year.  

Installation included two different shades of green multi-sport artificial grass which is fully texturised and offers fantastic playing properties for secondary school sports. This was coupled with white, red and yellow sport markings which means that on just one 1980 square metre surface, there are:

• 3 Netball Courts (yellow court markings)
• 3 Tennis Courts (white court markings)
• A 7-a-side Football Pitch (red D markings at either end of the pitch)

 A great way to optimise limited space for a school.

In between the existing hard tarmac surface and the new artificial turf, STM install a 15mm rubber padding underneath. This acts as an underlay and helps to cushion underfoot and provide a softer fall.

As part of the sports project, STM will also be installing kickboards around the new artificial pitch and refurbishing an existing tarmac netball court for the school as well. Watch this space…
