Last week we were at West Jesmond Primary School in Newcastle upon Tyne completing a school landscaping project with artificial grass. This replacement school landscaping took just a short time to complete keeping inconvenience to a minimum; something we always try to achieve at STM!
Unfortunately, there does come a time when artificial turf needs replacing however there are ways that you can ensure the longevity of your product. Regular preventative and corrective maintenance not only makes the appearance of your school landscaping look great for longer, but here at STM we always take into account the safety of the surface, including making the surface smooth and a trip free zone. Sometimes artificial turf needs replacing, after a while contaminants penetrate the surface and can cause a number of problems including issues with drainage.
Ignoring such problems can cause potential hazards
Timber edging can often become rotten
The first step is to remove the existing surface
Preparing the base works is the most crucial part of any project to ensure a smooth surface which contributes to the lifespan of the artificial turf.
In an artificial turf replacement, we always aim to protect the base works to avoid costs for our customers of replacing their existing base (if needed we will patch up certain areas and do a thorough inspection to ensure drainage will be sufficient).
STM use a Marmax plastic edging for our school landscaping artificial grass installations because they are durable but also incredibly flexible to coincide with the shape of the area.
A completely rejuvenated school landscaping installation!
After sanding the surface (this acts as the infill and makes sure that the grass blades stand in the correct direction) it creates a super safe and low maintenance mess-free area for everyone to enjoy!
Here at STM we can cater to different shapes and sizes to create something spectacular!
