Once again we have completely reconstructed a lacklustre school playground and made it into a happy, colourful Multi-Use-Games-Area (MUGA). Take a look at how we’ve transformed Forest Oak School in Birmingham.
Forest Oak School is situated in the heart of Solihull in Birmingham and is a Special Educational Needs school, helping children with moderate learning difficulties from the ages of 4-18 years old.
We were contacted late last year by the school who asked us to go and assess their grey, dull and unfriendly play area, that they were looking to severely change with our help. The PE teacher told us that he envisaged an enclosed MUGA that the children could use to play a multitude of sports and games.
With this in mind, we planned to remove the existing oversized goals before getting the go ahead to install a new three metre high twin bar fence system which can be accessed by a single gate.
The grass itself that we used was Evo Pro, which we laid down to create a safe, all-weather sports and play surface - of which they desperately needed.
Take a look at the transition process in the images below. As you can see, there is a dramatic difference in the playground surfaces before and after.
Forest Oak School absolutely loved the finished product of their new Multi-Use Games Area after completion and are enjoying playing sports on it. The children are absolutely thrilled with their new place to play and we’re over the moon to be a part of it, hoping to work with them a gain somewhere in the not so distant future.
