Oakridge Community Primary School welcomed Beth, the ladies under 19 striker, who plays for England and Sunderland, to officially open their new all-weather playground multi use games area installed by Synthetic Turf Management. Installed over the summer holidays, the innovative artificial grass which makes it suitable for a variety of sports, is ensuring pupils at the village school have even more opportunities to get active.

“It’s great to see a primary school on my own doorstep recognising the importance of sports and fitness – I just wish it had been here when I was at this school. This facility will be well used and make a real difference to the lives of the children, ensuring they can stay healthy and active throughout the year”. -Beth Mead England under 19 Woman’s Football.

‘The children were delighted to see the new playground after the summer break and couldn’t wait to try it out. The low-maintenance turf provides a surface which is suitable for lots of different sports, including football, hockey and tennis so it will definitely be used to its full potential. “It shows that as a school we are committed to providing the best facilities we can for our pupils. We know this will encourage the students to get fit and healthy while enjoying their favourite sports and games in a safe way”. - Head teacher Nance Wrigley
