In your school do you want students to have access to a wide range of sports but perhaps physically do not have the room to install one hockey pitch, one football pitch, one netball pitch and so on… We have the answer!
MUGA’s (multi-use-games-area) can collate different types of pitches all into one so that every student has access to a wide range of sports and can have the opportunity to excel at each one, remember Ofsted want a wide range of facilities and that’s what MUGA’s can offer!
An example of a school MUGA
In today’s blog we are going to be focusing on the artificial hockey pitch as part of the MUGA. An artificial hockey pitch uses the highest quality turf and our dedicated team of installers work to absolute perfection with the pitch markings.
Hockey is a sport which both male and female pupils tend to take to which makes it a hit in PE sessions, unfortunately in most of the UK it is not as appreciated as it should be and we want to try to help hockey take off in schools and leisure centres around the country.
Hockey is a sport where students can learn teamwork, stance and grip, running and dribbling, receiving the ball and playing in different positions including goalkeeping. It is also named in the national curriculum across the various key stages, therefore we feel as though an artificial hockey pitch can benefit any school and we recommend it as part of the MUGA.
The images below are taken from a variety of schools which show the artificial hockey pitch within the MUGA.
The yellow pitch markings on this MUGA show where the artificial hockey pitch is.
The artificial hockey pitches that we install can be used all year round and are built for hard passes, heavy falls, running, tackling and scoring.
We only use turf accredited by the International Hockey Federation for our artificial hockey pitches so rest-assured you are getting the best turf!
Synthetic turf MUGA
In addition to all other benefits, we emphasise heavily the importance of safety in all of the work that we do here at Synthetic Turf Management, in particular trip free edges and shock pads to create a safe play area for all.
Of course, here we have discussed an artificial hockey pitch as part of a MUGA however we install a variety of artificial hockey pitches on their own.
