The Best Type of Tennis Court Surface

22nd May 2017

Tennis can be played on all sorts of different surfaces, but whilst we have seen a reduction in lifespan over the years, from the typical Madacam and tarmac courts, and have installed synthetic turf in replacement of so many other surfaces. We are here to tell you that we think artificial is best. Otherwise, why would we be in the business?

Synthetic Turf Management was established in April 2009 with a team of experienced installers who were passionate about working with artificial turf. Since then we have pushed the boundaries and installed dozens of tennis court surfaces all over the country, from community triple tennis courts in Manchester to school junior courts in the Midlands. We are proud of every one of our jobs and believe we can create something that is individualised and durable enough to last up to twenty years!

Where do we Start?

It is a shame to see so many tennis courts that have been neglected over the years and produce something like the images below. Moss and algae have been embedding their way into the surface and have left a once thriving court into something that you wouldn’t want to use.

It is very important that no matter what surface you choose, you regularly source maintenance for it and make sure that it is completed often.

Artificial Turf Tennis Court Surfaces

The healthier, more advanced and cleaner your surface is, the more likely it will attract more people to use it. This could then turn into a steady income for your facility. Offering the best is something so simply yet very powerful in transforming the way you run.

If you are a school, you may find a demand in the local area and we regularly see schools hiring out their tennis court surface. As tennis is one of the growing sports, every sports centre should be catering to demand to optimise revenue and support community sports.

How do you ensure your surface is the best it can be?

We think that artificial turf is a durable product for a tennis court surface. This is because it is a softer surface that typical Macadam and tarmac therefore can be played on by people of all ages and abilities. In addition, it replicates natural grass and the surface is even approved by the International Tennis Federation for is suited to professionals as well.
